dc.description.abstract Writing a Thesis in Literary Studies: A Textbook for Slovak Students of English is designed for students of English or those studying in English who are preparing to write their bachelor’s or master’s thesis in literary or cultural studies. Organized into seven chapters, the textbook guides students step by step through the process of writing the thesis. The book begins by helping students identify a suitable research topic and formulate a specific research question and central claim. It offers practical advice on selecting a supervisor and clarifies the supervisor’s role in the thesis-writing process. It introduces appropriate research methods and provides guidance on finding and organizing relevant sources. A significant focus is placed on using sources effectively and ethically, with an introduction to commonly used citation styles in literary studies. The textbook also outlines the typical structure of a thesis, explaining the purpose of each section and highlighting best practices for writing them. Recognizing that submission is not the final step, the book concludes with advice on how to prepare for a successful thesis defence, ensuring students are equipped to present and discuss their work confidently. en_US
